WHO WE ARE

The Evanston In-School Music Association (EISMA), a not-for-profit community organization, is dedicated to presenting professional music programs that bring the joy and appreciation of music to elementary and middle school students in Evanston/Skokie School District 65 in Illinois.

Our organization:

• Offers Concerts for Kids to all Evanston/Skokie School District 65 public elementary and middle schools, special education schools, and private schools.
   
• Works with music educators, parents, and community members to inspire students with an appreciation for the diversity and influence of the world's music.
   
• Raises funds to bring artists to our community for forty-eight performances each year.
   
• Enables 8,000 students every year to experience the joy of music.

EISMA'S CONCERTS FOR KIDS

Each year EISMA presents two Concerts for Kids series. Over a nine-year period, students have the opportunity to participate in eighteen different professional music programs representative of the diverse ethnic community of Evanston/Skokie.

EISMA provides music teachers with pre-performance materials, including CDs, to enhance student understanding and appreciation for each concert.

Students sample the full range of musical styles performed by varying combinations of strings, brass, voice, and woodwinds, reflecting the traditions of many eras and cultures. The artists sponsored have included some of the best musicians in the Chicago area, such as Howard Levy, Corky Siegel, Special Consensus, and the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band.

Students have the opportunity to interact with singers, dancers, and instrumentalists, who share their craft, instruments, and love of music.
